Bordeaux Fine Wine

No other region is so associated with fine wines as Bordeaux. You could almost say the Bordelais single-handedly created the very concept. Back when the 1855 Classification organised the many Chateaux according to the prices they achieved, the Bordeaux premier wine league, and lesser divisions was formed.
Those stellar names in Bordeaux attract similarly stratospheric prices. These are the 'bucket list' wines which, for many of us, will always be beyond reach. Luckily, Bordeaux's fine wines aren't all aimed at the world's billionaires. There are those that, whilst more expensive than most everyday wines, are well worth treating yourself to if only every now and again.
It's this end of the Bordeaux spectrum that we've focused upon. Looking for those wines that manage to offer the best Bordeaux wine experience but without the hefty price tag.
Primarily red fine wine territory, Bordeaux's greatest wines are based around the 'big three': Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. However, you'll find some of the planet's finest sweet wines here too, made from Semillon and/or Sauvignon Blanc, once it's been influenced by 'noble rot'.
Virtually all red Bordeaux has been designed to complement food. These aren't simple quaffing wines, they come into their own and really shine once some good food is present. Then they're capable of creating a culinary experience you'll long remember.
