Carignan/Carinena Wine

If you like a red wine with real oomph, Carignan wine fits the bill nicely with its full body, enticing dark colour and rich flavours of black fruit, pepper, liquorice and spice. Mostly found in vineyards along the Mediterranean coast of North East Spain and South-West France, Carignan is a rich black skinned grape variety that is also knowns as Carinena, after the Spanish DO, or Mazuelo in Rioja DOCa. Perfect food match? Duck roasted with Chinese five spice.
