Colombard Wine

One of France’s most widely planted grapes, you’d be forgiven for not knowing much about this wonderful little blender. Taking the maxim ‘There’s no I in Team’ to the extreme, Colombard prefers to cosy up with other like-minded grapes to produce a whole that’s much greater than the sum of its parts. Its natural high acidity and light, fresh base make it the perfect grape for Cognac and Armagnac production and it is popping up more frequently in the wines of South-West France, notably the Côtes de Gascogne, where it blends beautifully with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
