Melon de Bourgogne Wine

Melon de Bourgogne is a varietal of the Muscadet grape. It’s a very hardy varietal that can withstand more extreme temperature conditions than most vines and also survives excessively wet winters. The grape produces white wine with a relatively high acidity but is generally a fairly neutral wine. Melon de Bourgogne wine typically has a subtle taste of citrus and green apples with mineral characteristics. The lower flavour concentrations lends itself well to lees aging (aging on yeast sediment) and barrel fermentation which adds depth, concentration and complexity to the wine. Mussels cooked with shallots, white wine and herbs plus some French fries is a perfect meal with Melon de Bourgogne wine.
