The jewel in Sicily’s crown, Nerello Mascalese is perfectly at home on the dark volcanic soils of Mount Etna, where it produces intense, mineral red wines with crisp acidity freshness and aromatic red berry fruit. You’ll often see it blended with Sicily’s other major red grape, Nero d’Avola, to produce approachable, juicy reds with a hint of Sicilian swagger. Give it a go with game birds (we mean as a food match), or classic Mediterranean inspired vegetable dishes.
