Pinot Grigio Wine (Pinot Gris)

Where would we be without it? Pinot Grigio might not be the most planted variety in the world, but it’s the grape that launched a whole generation of wine drinkers. A pink skinned grape, it produces everything from light, dry (and some would say neutral) whites and pale rosés in its Italian incarnation, through to rich, ripe, honeyed styles in Alsace, Australia and New Zealand and just about everywhere else. It’s the Dr Jeykell and Mr Hyde of grapes, with flavours veering from floral, citrus and chalky to rich and tropical with spicy notes depending on where and how it is grown. Set aside your prejudices and get tasting!
