Vermentino

Vermentino is a white grape that is grown throughout the Mediterranean, including Sardinia. It’s also known as Pigato, Favorita and Rolle throughout Italy and France depending on the appellation. The grapes have refreshing acidity and aromas of peach, lemon peel, dried herbs and a taste of green apple and lime. The style of Vermentino wine is affected by the appellation that it is grown in, with Vermentino wines from Tuscany producing ripe, peach scented wines with silky texture. Vermentino wine is best served with lobster, oyster and crab or lightly cooked spring vegetables such as peas and asparagus.
