Tokara Wines

Tokara offers anyone lucky enought to visit a unique combination of award-winning wines, brandy and olive oils, fine art, a restaurant and a deli. The winery, just outside Stellenbosch, is nestled among vineyards on the crest of the Helshoogte Pass with sweeping views across False Bay all the way to Table Mountain. Tokara prides itself on making wines that are site specific, with initial plantings on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain followed by two other farms: Highlands in the Elgin district and Siberia in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus.

A graduate of Stellenbosch University with double science degrees in both geology and geochemistry followed by in oenology and viticulture, Miles Mossop cut his winemaking teeth at Knappstein in the Clare Valley, Australia and then in Condrieu, France and at Planeta in Sicily. Returning to the Cape in 2000, he came straight to Tokara and has completed every vintage since that date.
