The Producer

Salva Terra is a large family run winery to the north west of Verona. With a history going back three generations, it is now in the hands of two brothers, Eros and Lucio Furia. Salva Terra has over 200 hectares of vineyards of Pinot Grigio under direct control, either owned by them or by farmers whom they have known for generations, who understand their strict quality requirements and work closely with their viticulturists.

Tom Cannavan Reviews

Don't just take our word for it; here's what wine writer Tom Cannavan has to say about the 2016 vintage:

"A Pinot Grigio that’s definitely brought it’s ‘A game’ to the party, with a light golden colour and nose of straw, herbs and then ripe stone fruits, even a subtle hint of pineapple. In the mouth it has some weight and texture, and the fresh, dry flavours display a level of intensity that elevate it above more mundane examples of northern Italian Pinot Grigio. It’s not a game changer, but it is a class act in its field"

The Region

The Veneto region, with its unique position between the Alpine foothills and the Adriatic sea produces a dizzying array of styles, from sparkling whites to sweet reds. The cooling sea and mountain breezes allow for the production of crisp, floral white wines, including Soave, Prosecco and the now famous Pinot Grigio delle Venezie.

Moules Marinière

A classic French dish that works well with most light white styles. Try (of course) French whites from the Loire or Bordeaux or Northern Italian styles such as Pinot Grigio or Soave.

Sole Meunière

The fresh notes of lemon and parsley marry well with citrussy notes in the wine so try a crisp, light white such as Pinot Grigio delle Venezie.
