The Producer

With 2000 hectares of vineyard at their disposal sourced from over 1,600 growers, the Cantina Colli Vicentini co-op is one of the largest in the region. As with many Italian co-ops, it came in to being in the post-war period, initially founded by 33 grape growers in the town of Montecchio Maggiore.

The Winemaker

Winemaker Alberto Marchiso, although a Piemontese, has been working in the Veneto area for some years. He joined Cantina Colli Vicentini as director and winemaker with the 2012 vintage and has since dramatically improved the quality of the wines.

The Region

The grapes are grown primarily on the hills south of Vicenza, the Colli Berici, where the hillside ensures lower yields and better ripeness of the grapes. With Alberto’s involvement in the winery, the delicate aromas of the wines have been preserved. The vineyards are located in the hills and are north facing. The hillside site experiences cooler nights, allowing the aromatic compounds of the grapes to develop. The soil is calcareous and of volcanic origin.
