The Enchanted Garden is a 100 year old plot of Eden Valley Riesling tended by Sue and Stuart Woodman and vinified by Zar and Elena Brooks under their Dandelion Vineyards label. Pure and fresh, this Riesling has classic aromatics of citrus zest, lemon foliage and floral notes, joined on the palate with a rich, steely minerality.

The Producer

The venture of Zar Brooks, his winemaking wife, Elena, and growers Carl Lindner and Brad Rey, Dandelion Vineyards is a fusion of vineyard sites, named after the humble dandelion which grows amongst the vines, preventing the growth of weeds and providing mulch for the soils. Wines are made from vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Fleurie and McLaren Vale. The Enchanted Garden was planted in 1910 and thrives to this day as a seven acre Eden Valley Vine Garden, lovingly tended by Sue and Stuart Woodman.

The Winemaker

Elena Brooks brings her winemaking expertise to the fore in a range of old vineyard sites situated across South Australia. The emphasis is on the pure expression of the vineyard, variety and vintage, resulting in a range of unique Australian styles that really sing for their supper.

The Region

The vineyards of South Australia produce half of Australia's total volume of wine, with regions as diverse as the lower altitude Barossa Valley, producing rich, structured reds, to the higher altitude vineyards such as the Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley regions, perfect for the production of crisp, dry whites.

In the Press: 'Despite its generally hot climate, Australia does have some truly ‘cool climate’ regions. The Eden Valley is one of them thanks to its higher altitude (460 metres) and cooling rains. Riesling, a grape which is suited to cooler climes, thrives there and this wine is a great example of what can be produced. Floral aromas are countered by a slight whiff of petroleum while the lime-laden fruit is juicy and satisfying. great for pork or spicy dishes.'
