Made by the Duffour family at their Saint Lannes estate in the heart of the Cotes de Gascogne region, this is a vibrant Sauvignon-Chardonnay blend, the wine is lively and fresh, with a zesty, rounded mouth feel. The Sauvignon adds intense fruit flavours and a whip of citrus acidity, while the Chardonnay gives a more rounded, creamy palate with lovely rich fruit on the finish - the perfect pairing.

Buy this if...you like zingy Sauvignon with a bit more weight on the palate.

Lively and fresh with hints of zesty Sauvignon and rich Chardonnay.

The Producer

Located in the centre of Gascony, south-west France, Domaine Saint Lannes has been owned and run by the Duffour family since 1955, with current owner Michel Duffour at the helm since 1971. Farming over 70 hectares of vineyard on unique chalky-clay soils, the estate’s philosophy is to respect the terroir of the region and champion local grape varieties, while at the same time creating wines that are a pleasure to drink and enjoy.

The Winemaker

Owner Michel began producing wines on the estate in 1982, after decades of Armagnac production. His dedication to quality over quantity is immediately noticeable in the wines. By reducing yields and working meticulously in the winery they have made this estate one of the best and most consistent in the area and Michel is moving the estate towards sustainability. The choice of grape varieties leans towards the local Colombard and Gros Manseng, with the addition of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Petit Manseng, while red varietals are split between Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon and Tannat.

The Region

The estate spreads across the slopes of the Tenareze region in rural Gascony, in a landscape dotted with limestone quarries. With a downturn in Armagnac production came the opportunity for producers to explore the vinous possibilities of this stunning region, which has lead to a huge success on the export market. The proximity to the Pyrenees means a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters, beneficial for the healthy development of the vines and a combination of freshness and rich flavours in the final wines. South facing slopes ensure early ripening of the grapes as well as perfect drainage.

Well Balanced

Smooth, though initially a slight tartness that beautifully yields to a fruity, smooth juicy finish.
Most enjoyable!

Pea And Goats Cheese Risotto

Risottos pair well with both reds and whites so consider the other ingredients when choosing a wine match - the combination of sweet peas and salty goats cheese call for a vibrant white with lots of fruit flavour, try our Sauvignon - Chardonnay blend from Domaine Saint-Lannes and see what you think.

Moules Marinieres

A classic French dish which is surprisingly versatile with many styles of wine such as Sauvignon and Chardonnay - for a slightly different take, try a ripe, citrussy New World white such as Semillon.

Cauliflower Steaks with Olive and Herb Salsa

On trend and animnal friendly. Cauliflower steaks are vegan, nutritious and delicious. Especially with this Mediterranean salsa. It's impressive enough to be the focal point of the meal, or will pair beautifully with fresh meat or fish. But, first and foremost, eat these cauli steaks with a glass of Domaine Saint-Lannes Sauvignon-Chardonnay.
