Apparently, the biggest problem they have with Sauvignon Blanc is keeping the baboons from eating the grapes. They're the favourites of the hairy critters, turning their noses up at other varieties.

Luckily the apes didn't get their mitts on those that make this zippy, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc wine. Plenty of zesty, ripe fruit flavours, with that moreish kick that makes Sauvignon our best-loved white wine.

Every fridge should have one at the ready.

The Producer

Situated in the picturesque Paarl Valley, Boland Cellars has been nominated as one of South Africa's top export companies, one of the top 100 wine producers in the world by the World Association of Wine & Spirits writers as well as being one of the top producers in Paarl. Focussing very strongly on the merits of what they call 'regionality', the team have been working for more than six decades in the Paarl region, time which has allowed their viticulturists to isolate five different climatic zones.

The Winemaker

Although Boland Cellar advocates a virtual 'hands-off' approach in the cellar, they recognise that the viticulturist and winemaker nonetheless have many crucial decisions to make, from vineyard maintenance to blending and bottling.

The Region

The Paarl region is marked by a Mediterranean climate of warm dry summers and mild but wet winters, the cooling influence of the nearby ocean and cool mountain slopes with slower ripening grapes. By identifying five distinct microclimates within the region, the viticultural team have been able to cherry-pick varietals best suited to specific vineyard sites.
