Classy, elegant Chardonnay from one of Stellenbosch's best producers. This Chardonnay has been blended from myriad parcels of land to produce a whole that is supremely better than the sum of its parts. A nod to Burgundy with classic French oak richness combines with creamy stone fruit and a long, elegant finish.

Buy this dream Chardonnay.

'This sleek Chardonnay with its confident but balanced nuttiness and hint of toast from its barrel fermentation is more than matched by pristine fruit...before a lick of salinity and shimmering lemon acidity grabs the long, elegant finish. A terrific price for such a classy wine.'

The Producer

Owned and managed by Gary and Cathy Jordan since 1993, this Stellenbosch farm has a history dating back over 300 years. Gary’s a geologist, Cathy an economist by trade – but together this husband and wife team is a phenomenon. Gary’s parents, Ted and Sheelagh, bought the 146 hectare farm in 1982 and embarked on an extensive replanting programme, specialising in classic varieties suited to the different soils and slopes. Gary and Cathy worked internationally for two years, returning home in 1992 to build a new cellar and begin the winemaking odyssey that has cemented their position as one of the key players in the South African wine industry.

The Winemaker

Sjaak Nelson has been part of the furniture (in the nicest possible way) at Jordan estate for over 15 years. Growing up amongst the vineyards of Tulbagh, he started out studying Business Management but chanced upon a week’s winery work at Tulbagh co-operative as a recent graduate and three years later he was still there. A move to Stellenbosch winery Saxenberg followed and he soon moved on to neighbours Jordan Estate where he has been making award-winning wines ever since.

The Region

If panoramas are your thing, then you might like to take a trip to Jordan Estate for the spectacular hillside vineyards of Table Mountain, False Bay and Stellenbosch. The complex patchwork of soils, aspects, altitudes and micro-climates helps contribute to the incredible success of this estate. The vineyards on these slopes face north, south, east and west, with vineyards lying at altitudes up to 400m above sea level. Close proximity to both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans allows from coastal fog and cool sea breezes minimise the risk of frost damage.

Provencal Style Scallops

A simple way with scallops, this Provencal dish uses white wine and parsley to add freshness to the dish, so head for opulent Chardonnays with crisp mineral flavours.

Roast Chicken with Garlic & Lemon

Roast chicken is easy to pair with both both light reds and full-bodied whites. Oaked Chardonnay hits the spot with its rich, creamy texture and streak of fresh acidity.

Smoked Haddock with Creamy Lentils

A delicious smoked haddock together with rich, creamy lentils needs a wine with plenty of fruit concentration and structure to stand up to the contrasting smoky, earthy and creamy notes. For weight and body head to New World Chardonnay or Semillon.
