Made from fruit sourced from 35 specially selected grape growing families, this is a well-made, fruity wine with an exotic fruit character. The name Klippenkop comes from the Afrikaans words meaning a rocky outcrop or hillock which perfectly describes the terroir of the vineyards. The vineyards benefit from cool winds allowing the grapes to retain their acidity and the final wine is packed with powerful varietal flavours.

Buy this if you love the heady apple and melon aromas of Chenin Blanc.

A delicate yet fruity wine made with South Africa's flagship white grape.

The winemaker

This wine was carefully made by harvesting the grapes at cool temperatures, gently pressing them to extract the juice, then the juice was slowly fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel to retain all the fruit components of the wine.

The Region

The Robertson Valley is known as a high quality region for grape growing in South Africa. The vineyards are situated on the riverbanks of the Breede River so the vines are grown in deep alluvial soil composed of deposits from the flowing river. There is very little rainfall here so controlled drip irrigation is used to supplement the vines.

Gorgonzola Stuffed Chicken Breast Wrapped in Pancetta

Chicken and Chenin Blanc make for a very tasty match but if you're serving the chicken with these additional ingredients, remember the extra saltiness that the pancetta and cheese will bring to the dish - plump for a ripe, fruity white such as South African Chenin Blanc to contrast with the salty tang.

Spicy Pork Curry

A white meat such as Pork is a great match for Chenin Blanc wine. This aromatic curry is perfectly offset by the exotic fruity notes found in a ripe South African Chenin Blanc.

Moules Marinieres

The salty and garlicky sauce filled with tender mussels requires a refreshing white to bring a zip of fruit to this dish. The exotic fruit flavours of a zippy South African Chenin are just what is required.
