This vibrant Aussie white defies all ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) drinkers with its bright, crisp fruit and textured, juicy palate. The wine is fermented on oak staves to add richer, creamy notes but is then matured in stainless steel. You'll probably find this wine very aromatic and fresh on the nose, with plenty of mouth-watering peach and melon on the palate, complemented by a lick of zesty acidity.

Buy this if...you're an AC drinker (that's Always Chardonnay)

A zesty, fresh Chardonnay in the new Australian style.

The Producer

Taking its name from the famed Australian bird, the Kookaburra, the Laughing Bird series takes classic grapes and turns them in to smooth, easy drinking wines. The grapes are specially selected from small parcels of vines in South Eastern Australia, chosen for their slow-ripening potential.

Winemaking

The vines are carefully cultivated, with low yields producing intensely-flavoured grapes of outstanding quality. The Chardonnay is matured in stainless steel to preserve the fruit character.

The Region

The South-East Australia wine zone includes the states of South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales and produces wines from a variety of different vineyard sites across the smaller regions. While these can be inexpensive blended wines, some producers also use this as a way to create their own personal blends of regional styles.

BBQ Chicken on Flatbread with Cucumber Pico de Gallo

This spicy chicken recipe makes a quick and easy lunch or supper. Try pairing with soft, fruity whites which will contrast nicely with the zingy notes of chilli and lemon.

Humita Crème Brulée

A modern take on a traditional South American dish, humita is made from fresh corn often blended with onions and spices, in this case blended into a savoury crème brulée. Egg-based dishes can be a bit tricky to pair with wines but a bright, juicy white does the trick here.

Paneer and Vegetable Skewers

Swap the usual Halloumi for Paneer in these simple kebabs and try a soft, fruity New World Chardonnay to complement the mix of flavours
