Ripe, honeyed Semillon joins forces with floral Muscat, aromatic Gewurztraminer and weighty Pinot Gris in this eclectic blend from Peter Lehmann, produced from vineyards close to Adelaide. The nose is layered (no, seriously) with aromatic notes of lemongrass, basil, citrus and flowers, while the palate combines a soft, ripe texture with peachy fruit and crisp, balanced acidity.

Buy this if...you love light, aromatic whites.

A unique, sweetly scented blend of Semillon with Muscat, Gewurz and Pinot Gris in the mix - aromatic, fresh and delicious.

The Producer

Born in the Barossa Valley in 1930, Peter Lehmann began a lifetime of winemaking at the age of just 17 when he joined the Yalumba team. He decided to establish his own winery in 1979, as a way of helping the local growers to sell their grapes, a helping hand which went on to become one of Australia's greatest wine brands. The winery now sources fruit from 140 local growers, who are integral to the success of the company. Peter's role in saving the Barossa was rewarded with the award of ‘Personality of the Year’ by the International Wine Challenge in 2009, not to mention a member of the Order of Australia.

The Winemaker

The winemaking team at Peter Lehmann is led by Ian Hongell, aided by Tim Dolan. Winemaking at Peter Lehmann since 1998, following vintage experience around the world and stints at some of Australia's other great wineries, Ian took over the reins from chief winemaker Andrew Wigan in 2015. Winemaking was the obvious choice for someone who grew up close to the Peter Lehmann winery, with Ian's father working with Peter at Saltram. Ian gets to see both sides of the coin, with his own small Shiraz vineyard supplying fruit for the winery.

The Region

The Barossa Valley is situated an hour's drive north of Adelaide and is arguably the country's best known wine region, with over 150 wineries in production. With its Mediterranean climate and rich, dark soils, this is ideal red wine country with many different sub-regions giving a wide variety of styles. Rhone grapes Shiraz (Syrah) and Grenache are particularly suited to the region, producing rich, structured reds with great ageing potential, but its rich ripe white wines are a thing of beauty.

Baked and Barbecued Thai Chicken Thighs

The aromatic spices and gentle heat of Thai cooking are made for ripe, structured and equally aromatic whites such as Gewurztraminer or Pinot Gris.

Salmon and Avocado Rice

An easy-peasy Japanese-style rice with creamy avocado and salmon, this needs a vibrant white with good acidity to balance the rich flavours - try a dry structured white with tropical flavours for the perfect pairing.

Spicy Fish Braai

Super-simple but very effective, the spicy marinade on barbecued fish combines sweetness, heat and plenty of flavour. Try a tropical-fruited but light white wine.
