Don't let the quirky label fool you. This is an exceptionally good Loire red wine. Made from Cabernet Franc, its got all the hallmarks of this ultra-refreshing grape variety. Aromatic, smooth, fruity.

That tight-rope walking cow refers to the vines growing on different soil types, and the wines superb balance. Red fruit and toasty aromas, supple and light palate, deliciously poised red wine. More depth than Chinon, but still on the light side for red wines.

And, thankfully, the Loire's red wines remain some of France's last remaining wine bargains, giving you tremendous quality at uninflated prices. Top summer red wine drinking choice, for sure, but it's a year-round winning wine.

When it comes to the Loire's red wines, Cabernet Franc gives you some excellent options to try. Here, in Bourgueil, we've found a super organic (certified) red wine, one which manages to balance the fruit flavours, light tannins, and refreshing nature beautifully
