In Rioja they call rosé wine 'Rosado' which captures the essence of a Spanish summer in a bottle. Jam-packed with fruit flavours to make it a great tipple any time of the year, especially lounging in the summer sun.

Spanish varieties Viura and Grenache working brilliantly together in this wine creating the perfect balance of ripe red fruit and refreshing acidity. The tart, juicy raspberry and sweet red cherry create a glorious blend to match any tapas dish.

A great choice if you want to expand your rosé portfolio and see what Spain has to offer.

New vintage, new bottle, new blend. This flirty, fruity, fun Rosado is an excellent accompaniment to any sunny afternoon. Light, fresh and oozing with raspberry and cherry, the new and improved blend of Virua and Grenache works a treat.

The Producer

Bodegas Navajas is a family run winery situated in the village of Navarrete, in the heart of the Rioja region. The bodega was founded in 1918 but it wasn’t until 1983 when the Navajas family finally took complete control of the winery which has seen a dramatic improvement in quality ever since. The Bodega is run by Antonio Navajas and his wife, Rosa Maria Gandarias. Their son, Roberto, is responsible for production and quality control and their daughter, Mercedes, is in charge of exports.

The Winemaker

Son Roberto is in charge of the winemaking, with the classic ageing periods for Rioja wines. A brand new barrel ageing area installed in 2005 allows for a state-of-the-art winemaking facility combined with age-old tradition.

The Region

The Rioja region is in north eastern of Spain, located south of the Cantabrian Mountains, which help to isolate the region from the fierce winds and maritime influences. Most of Rioja’s wines are red made predominantly from the Tempranillo grape. The region has three districts: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja. Rioja Alta is Rioja’s fullest in terms of fruit and concentration with lovely velvety smooth tastes. Reds are made predominantly from Tempranillo and Garnacha with Graciano and Carinena playing bit parts.

The wine was an excellent accompaniment having a attractive blush colour to compliment the fish, a pleasant fruity aroma and a velvety smoothness in the mouth with a nice long after taste to savour.
