Having been grown between 100 - 300 metres above sea-level and from specially selected sites the Garganega, Chardonnay and Trebbiano blend is showing off the best characteristics of each variety. The wine is produced to ensure the bright lemon colour and fresh aromatic notes of lemon, almond and white peach - a beautiful refreshing blend of flavours and a perfect partner for seafood, chicken or simple vegetable-based dishes.

This is not a wine to lay down, drink it young and enjoy it. It has been made so that you can crack it open and enjoy the best of the fresh, unadulterated fruit flavours with friends as soon as it hits our soils.

Beautifully, fresh and slips down very easily. You'll be reaching for a second bottle before you know it.

The Producer

Sourcing grapes from over 700 hectares of vineyards and 250 growers, the Cantina Valpantena is one of Italy's largest and best co-operatives, situated in the Valpantena valley, north of the city of Verona. Established in 1958, the co-operative now makes wines from the surrounding appellations, with the Torre del Falasco wines showing their commitment to quality.

The Winemaker

Consultant winemaker Matt Thomson, who makes several of our wines on the list at Rude Wines, has been working with Luca Degani since 1999. Cantina Valpantena is now one of Italy's best co-operatives, with 700 hectares of vineyard producing excellent quality fruit.

The grapes were hand harvested, destemmed, crushed and chilled on the way to the press with no sulphur addition. By keeping the grapes chilled, the youthful, bright aromatic flavours are retained. The wine is also fermented at a low temperature to help preserve the fresh fruit character of the grapes.

The Region

With cool mountain breezes blowing directly down from the Dolomites and limestone soils on steeply sloped vineyards, the Valpantena valley in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy is the perfect location for the production of both red and white wines. This is Valpolicella country, the grapes for which are grown on the steeply terraced hillside vineyards belonging to the cooperative, where soils are chalky and poor.

Gorgonzola stuffed Chicken Breast wrapped in Pancetta

Plump for a ripe, fruity white such as Chardonnay or Garganega to contrast with the salty tang that the pancetta and cheese bring to the dish.

Crab Cakes

The delicate crab meat calls for a smooth, fruity, floral white or rosé which doesn't overpower the meat - try Southern French rosés with good weight of fruit or a fuller bodied white, such as our Pergolino, Bianco Veronese from Veneto.
