The Producer
Founded by winemaking legend José Neiva Correia in 1998, DJF Vinhos is located in the Lisboa region which stretches north along the coast from the capital Lisbon. A simple philosophy with an ambitious aim: to transform the rich and diverse Portuguese varieties into top quality wines that are accessible to all. Quality and value for money are key, and the estate even buys in used oak barrels and employ two coopers to take them apart and strip them back to the new wood – as good as new for a fraction of the price! DJF is not short of fans, with more awards than any other Portuguese producer of the last 20 years, including red wine of the year at the IWC and twice Portuguese Winery of the Year in the New York Wine Competition since 2012.

Tom Cannavan Reviews
Don't just take our word for it; here's what wine writer Tom Cannavan has to say:
"From Lisboa, just to the west of Lisbon, a blend of the local Fernão Pires with various local and international aromatic varieties. It’s light, lemony and fresh, a touch of floral aromatics too, then smoothly-fruited but zesty and crisp on the palate. Another lovely light-weight quaffer in the Rude Wines range with only 12% alcohol and a clean, zippy finish"
The Region
Sunshine is not in short supply in this picturesque region of rolling hills, yet cooling Atlantic breezes allow for a long, slow ripening period for the grapes which lends a fresh, elegant touch to the wines. A total of seventeen grape varieties are grown across a wide area with white varieties are planted in cooler vineyards nearer the ocean, red varieties in warmer vineyards further inland. Extensive research is always on the cards, and José is credited with the introduction of several new varietals to the region including Albarino, Pinot Noir and more recently Dornfelder.
