The simplicity of the label says it all. This is simply 100% pure Sauvignon and its perfect crisp, refreshing flavour is all you need to wind down and forget the stresses of the day. At just 11.5% abv, this is a true multi-tasking wine, easy-drinking enough for quaffing in the week and elegant enough to catch up with friends over a long lunch.

Pure is a straight-talking wine, the zippy, appley, grassy flavours speak for themselves. All you need to bring is a laid back attitude and an appreciation of the finer things in life.

Sourced in the traditional winemaking region of Gascony, selected then bottled by top-notch Bordeaux wine merchant Maison Sichel, this is a wine you'll come back to time and again. Pair this with your pre-dinner nibbles, a plate of seafood linguine or a melting goats cheese baguette and you're all set.

A stylish and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc created in Gascony in the South of France. This is French Sauvignon as it's meant to be. Grassy, applely, minerally and oh-so refreshing. The perfect wine to accompany your precious relaxation time.

The Producer

Maison Sichel are a well respected wine producer based in the Bordeaux region of France. We're more than happy to recommend any wine Sichel put their name to. It's a real mark of quality.

The Winemaking

The grapes for this wine are top-quality with vines undergoing yield control, managed
grass cover and integrated pest control. The grape juice is run off the harvested grapes before they are pressed and the resulting must is allowed to settle, then transferred to temperature-controlled vats. Fermentation takes place at low temperatures keeping flavours fresh and the wines are aged on their lees (yeast sediment) to add an extra dimension before bottling.

The Region

The climate of the Gascon region is influenced both by the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees mountains. The soils in the vineyard are a mixture of argillaceous clay and sandy soils and this helps to impart a minerally finesse to the white wines from this region.

Did not disappoint

I was surprised to enjoy this French sauvignon blanc so much, as I normally drink Chilean. The crispness of bouquet was encouraging and the taste did not disappoint!

Pea and Goats Cheese Risotto

The tangy flavour of goats cheese and the sweet flavour of peas benefit from a crisp, aromatic wine with a good fruit character. Sauvignon has traditionally been the wine of choice in the Loire where handmade goats cheeses are famously made. We think Pure Sauvignon Blanc, 2018, Côtes de Gascogne is a sound choice.
