The Dynamic Duo

Caroline Frey is a renowned winemaker after tasting this Côtes du Rhône Villages you will see why. The wine is aged in oak casks for a minimum of twelve months before release. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre go to produce lovely black cherry aromas, leading through to a palate laced with silky tannins and a crisp freshness on the finish.
Then we've added a top Sauvignon Blanc wine from one of the best regions in the world - Sancerre. Made by the Millet family who have been running their sustainably farmed estate in Sancerre for five generations, this is a classic Sancerre style from the homeland of Sauvignon Blanc. Intense and rich with notes of gooseberry on both nose and palate, with a touch of minerality which makes this an all-round refreshing glassful.

Velvety-smooth, powerful Rhône red partners crisp, refreshing Sancerre. This formidable couple are destined to be a hit.

The Producer

Here's a classic family-owned French wine estate. Domaine des Côtes Blanches was founded in the 1930s by Bernard & Pierre Millet. Fast-forward to 1980 and François & Monique, the next generation, expand the estate to 21 hectares, split between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir (15 to 6 Ha).

Most recently, Nicolas, their son, has joined the family wine business. His studies at Beaune have brought a fresh perspective to this excellent Loire estate. It's farmed organically, and in the winery gravity flow reigns (not pumps) to minimise the wines' handling.

Goat's Cheese Cooked in Vine Leaves

There are few better food and wine pairings than goat's cheese with Sauvignon Blanc, with the natural high acidity of the cheese squaring up to the same in the wine. The salty, creaminess of the cheese contrast well with the ripe fruit flavours in Sancerre. Full recipe

The Producer

A historical Rhône estate since 1834 when Antoine Jaboulet began buying and farming the land around the town of Tain l’Hermitage, Paul Jaboulet Aîné has grown into one of the best known and most admired names in the Rhône Valley, synonymous with a broad range of top quality Rhône Cru and benchmark generic appellations. Six generations of the Jaboulet family carried on this family tradition, purchasing some of what would become the most prized vineyard locations in the region. Following nearly two centuries of family ownership, Maison Paul Jaboulet was bought in 2006 by the Frey family, owners of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux.

Lamb Shanks

A hearty, rustic lamb casserole needs a rich, gutsy red with good acidity. Oaked Grenache blends such as Southern Rhone styles pair well with rich stews and tomato-based dishes. Full recipe
