Bordeaux family firm Maison Sichel produce this deliciously light, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards on the Right Bank and Entre-Deux-Mers regions, fermenting and ageing in vat to preserve the beautiful freshness of fruit. This is aromatic and as light as a feather, with crisp, grassy flavours, apple and citrus, combined with a lick of refreshing acidity.

Buy this if...you love a lighter style of Sauvignon.

Lively, fresh and floral Sauvignon Blanc - Bordeaux is not just for reds...

The Producer

Maison Sichel were originally just a negociant house (dealing with the commercialisation rather than the production of wines) but they have learnt from their New World counterparts to create the Cave Bel Air - a winery in the broadest sense on the term. Cave Bel Air grows, produces, ages bottles and distributes the wine – quite a rare occurrence in Bordeaux, producing red, white and rosé from their two hundred hectares of vines.

Tom Cannavan Reviews

Don't just take our word for it; here's what wine writer Tom Cannavan has to say:

"Made by Maison Sichel from selected parcels of Sauvignon Blanc, the mainstay variety of white Bordeaux along with Semillon, this is punchy, modern stuff, giving full expression to the grassy and pea-shoot freshness of the grape, and even touching into lychee as well gooseberry and elderflower. In the mouth a dry and grown-up style, with plenty of pithy citrus acidity to drive it along, the fruit more on apples and crunchy pears than anything blowsier. This nicely walks the line between vivacious and savoury restraint"

The Region

France’s largest and undoubtedly best-known wine region, Bordeaux is synonymous with world-class (and often expensive) red wines yet it produces a full range of styles from sweet to sparkling, with wines to suit every budget. The city of Bordeaux sits at the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, flowing in to the Gironde before reaching the Atlantic, a unique geographical feature that contributes to the amazing range of styles produced in the region. The rivers carve the region in to two distinct areas – the Right and Left Banks, and some surprising differences between the two sides.

Pea And Goats Cheese Risotto

Risottos pair well with both reds and whites so consider the other ingredients when choosing a wine match - the combination of sweet peas and salty goats cheese call for a vibrant white with lots of fruit flavour - go for a Bordeaux white such as Les Hauts de Bel Air Sauvignon Blanc. You won't be disappointed.
