The Producer

Located in the centre of Gascony, south-west France, Domaine Saint Lannes has been owned and run by the Duffour family since 1955, with current owner Michel Duffour at the helm since 1971. Farming over 70 hectares of vineyard on unique chalky-clay soils, the estate’s philosophy is to respect the terroir of the region and champion local grape varieties, while at the same time creating wines that are a pleasure to drink and enjoy.

Very good indeed. If you like decent fragrant New Zealand Sauvignon's (Think Villa Maria, Brancott Estate) then you'll love this! Justin

Heavenly. I really enjoyed this, well, I am a fan of Chilean wines, of all colours anyway... I loved it. I shall doubtless return. Thank you Rude. Julian

The Producer

Family owned winery Casas del Bosque was founded in 1993 by Juan Cuneo Solari. The son of an Italian immigrant, he had always dreamed of having his own vineyard and chanced upon an area of the Casablanca Valley, 100k due west of Santiago, with its pine forests, olive groves and small, white abandoned adobe houses. He chose to name the winery Casas del Bosque, or “Houses of the Forest.” The winemaking team are evangelical about translating the character of the vineyard and grape in to the final wine, using longer than average skin contact to extract extra flavour from the grapes. Some vineyards are under organic management and the winery is currently beginning the process towards Wines of Chile Sustainability Certification, which is the first step on the way to organic certification.

Chilean Fish Stew

Pair rich fish stews with vibrant, zesty whites such as Sauvignon Blanc which have enough fruit flavour to balance out the punchy garlic, herbs and tomatoes. As the Casas del Bosque Sauvignon is from Chile, it would be Rude not to pair them.

Long before the Kiwis cottoned on to Sauvignon Blanc, across the Channel there were some top-notch French wines that had mastered the variety. Like this fantastic Bergerac white which is amazingly good value too

Bergerac wines have long been a popular choice for wine drinkers, with the proximity to Bordeaux providing similar soil types and climate, with a more sheltered position from the effects of the Atlantic. The Duc de Castellac range includes soft, fruity and versatile red and white wines for easy-going drinking.

Moules Marinière

The light white wines of western France pair brilliantly with the local seafood specialities such as this classic Mussels dish with creamy sauce. Try Sauvignon Blanc like our Duc de Castellac blends for a citrusy touch. Full recipe

The Producer

Maison Sichel were originally just a negociant house (dealing with the commercialisation rather than the production of wines) but they have learnt from their New World counterparts to create the Cave Bel Air - a winery in the broadest sense on the term. Cave Bel Air grows, produces, ages bottles and distributes the wine – quite a rare occurrence in Bordeaux, producing red, white and rosé from their two hundred hectares of vines.

The Producer

Owned by Trevor and Robyn Bolitho, Waimea Estates started out life as a horticultural operation, but the couple soon saw the potential in the local area for the production of quality wines. Their wine adventure began with the planting of vineyard sites in1993-1995, resulting in an award for their first Sauvignon Blanc vintage in 1997. Sustainable farming is at the forefront of their philosophy, with minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery and an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of the surrounding environment.

Well Balanced

Smooth, though initially a slight tartness that beautifully yields to a fruity, smooth juicy finish.
Most enjoyable!

Citrus Fresh

I dream Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Gavi but this very citrus tasting Sauvignon Blanc went down nicely with some extra mature Cheddar.
