The Producer

Owned by Trevor and Robyn Bolitho, Waimea Estates started out life as a horticultural operation, but the couple soon saw the potential in the local area for the production of quality wines. Their wine adventure began with the planting of vineyard sites in the early nineties, resulting in an award for their first Sauvignon Blanc vintage in 1997. Sustainable farming is at the forefront of their philosophy, with minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery and an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of the surrounding environment.

The Producer

Maison Sichel were originally just a negociant house (dealing with the commercialisation rather than the production of wines) but they have learnt from their New World counterparts to create the Cave Bel Air - a winery in the broadest sense on the term. Cave Bel Air grows, produces, ages bottles and distributes the wine – quite a rare occurrence in Bordeaux, producing red, white and rosé from their two hundred hectares of vines.

Small in size but large in stature, Edgebaston consists of just 22 hectares of vines. David oversees all vineyard and winemaking activity, with a holistic and quality-driven approach. The estate uses only organic fertilisers in the vineyards and care is taken at every step of the winemaking process to ensure that all wines are produced in the most environmentally friendly manner. Citrus Fresh

I dream Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Gavi but this very citrus tasting Sauvignon Blanc went down nicely with some extra mature Cheddar.
