From renowned Rhône producer Paul Jabolet Ainé, this wine is made by Caroline Frey, whose Bordeaux-based family took over the running of the estate in 2006. Made predominantly from Grenache Blanc, this is vibrant and punchy, with notes of ripe pears and white peaches. The palate mirrors these aromas with lovely, rich fruit flavours. Great with roast pork dishes.

Buy this if...you love bright, intensely fruity whites.

Try a Rhône Valley white in the form of this unbelievably ripe and juicy Grenache Blanc.

The Producer

A historical Rhône estate since 1834 when Antoine Jaboulet began buying and farming the land around the town of Tain l’Hermitage, Paul Jaboulet Aîné has grown into one of the best known and most admired names in the Rhône Valley, synonymous with a broad range of top quality Rhône Cru and benchmark generic appellations. Six generations of the Jaboulet family carried on this family tradition, purchasing some of what would become the most prized vineyard locations in the region. Following nearly two centuries of family ownership, Maison Paul Jaboulet was bought in 2006 by the Frey family, owners of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux.

Tom Cannavan Reviews

Don't just take our word for it; here's what wine writer Tom Cannavan has to say:

"The fame of the Rhône Valley in France lies mainly in red wines, but a lot of excellent white wine is made there too, in this case from the southern appellation of Ventoux. A creamy, buttery almost minty character on the nose from the ripe Grenache blanc fruit, giving a smooth roundness to the aromas. In the mouth it is broad and mouth-filling, very rounded, but the freshness of the wine really impresses – what a terrific match it would be for pork medallions in a creamy mustard sauce"

The Region

Jaboulet's jewel has to be the magnificent vineyards of the Hermitage hill but they now own vineyard locations the length and breadth of the Rhone valley. More recent acquisitions in the Southern Rhone valley, including Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône, have earned Jaboulet another raft of great reviews.

Chicken & Almonds

This classic French recipe works beautifully with medium-bodied, rich whites which are just off dry - head for floral, nutty tones in the wines - Rhone whites work really well.

Fruity Pork

Succulent roast pork with a rich fruity sauce needs a wine with ripe, generous fruit and crisp, mineral acidity to balance out the sweetness of the sauce. We'd go for a ripe white such as a Southern French blend or a new world white such as Chenin Blanc with enough weight to take on the meat and fruit combination.

Chicken Caesar Salad

A classic Caesar salad with rich dressing needs nothing but a glass of bright, fruity white - Rhone or Southern French whites or Chardonnay for example..
