Mendoza

In the far west of Argentina, in the foothills of the Andes, the winemaking region of Mendoza is closer to the Chilean capital Santiago than it is to Buenos Aires. High altitude vineyards, semi-arid conditions and a patchwork of different soil types make this a perfect location for the production of quality red and white wines. Malbec has guaranteed Mendoza a world-class reputation as the great red wine producing region of Argentina, although never ones to rest on their laurels, wine producers are forging ahead with top class Cabernet, Chardonnay and more recently Tempranillo.
