Mendoza

Arguably South America’s best-known wine region, Mendoza is the jewel in Argentina’s winemaking crownand is well known for its intensely fruity and age worthy red wines made from the Malbec grape. Mendoza is very close to the Andes Mountains, with vineyards at unbelievably high altitudes benefitting from the cooling influence of the mountain air currents which retain the acidity and colour in the grapes. Some excellent quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can reliably be grown in this region as long as the vineyards are at a sufficient altitude. Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah, Pinot Grigio are all successfully made in Mendoza.
