Ribera del Duero

Situated in northern Spain, to the west of Rioja, the Ribera del Duero is a predominantly red wine producing region with the river Duero (or Douro as it becomes in Portugal). The vineyards here are a mixture of soils: sandy, gravel, shingle and quartz, with each soil type contributes to different flavours in the mostly Tempranillo fruit.
