A tiny appellation whose 75ha sees a third of the Marsanne and Roussanne go into producing sparkling wines. It’s easy to overlook the white wines of the Rhône, often in the shadow of the region’s more famous red wines. And that’s a shame, because Rousanne and Marsanne are terrific grape varieties in their own right.

It’s the limestone, rarely found in the Rhône, that enable white grapes to take the limelight here. Terrific wines that aren’t overly acidic, tremendously food-friendly, and potentially quite long-lived are St-Péray’s hallmarks.
