Sonoma County Wine, Buy Wine by Region

Running parallel to the Napa Valley in California, Sonoma is the source of many highly prized wines. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet and Zinfandel are the most widely planted varieties along with lesser amounts of Colombard, Chenin Blanc, Carignan, Grenache. Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne and Mourvèdre. Burgundy’s Pinot Noir has been the latest big trend in California and grows well at the southern end of the valley, nicely cooled by ocean fog, delaying ripening of the grapes and allowing good flavour and acidity to be retained.
