Western Cape

Right at the southernmost tip of Africa, the Western Cape region produces some of the best wines in the Southern hemisphere. Early European settlers soon realised the climate and soil were similar to those found in Europe, and with plenty of hillsides and trade routes to capitalise upon, excellent wine was being grown here in the 1600s. The region now represents a concentration of winegrowing expertise that’s consistently producing some of the New World’s most sought-after Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, with recent plantings of red grapes producing some award-winning styles.
